According to the bulletin issued by the state health department, two hundred and six people tested positive for COVID-19 in the central zone on Tuesday.
With 67 persons testing positive for the virus in the district, Tiruchi continued to witness the maximum number of daily case loads in the region. 39 new cases were reported in Thanjavur, Tiruvarur 24, Nagapattinam 18, Pudukottai 17, Mayiladuthurai 15, Karur 11, Perambalur nine and Ariyalur six.
Tiruchi also had the highest number of active cases in the region with 417 patients under treatment, including home remedies for the infection. There were 215 active cases in Thanjavur, 144 in Tiruvarur, 136 in Pudukottai, 88 in Mayiladuthurai, 81 in Perambalur, 75 in Nagapattinam, 65 in Karur and 56 in Ariyalur.
