Daltonganj: 23-year-old woman gave birth to a baby girl on stage Daltonganj Railway station late Thursday night. Pooja Kumari was going to sasaram She went into labor when on the Ranchi-Sasaram Intercity Express from Ranchi in Bihar. With the help of her husband, Pooja got off the train at Daltonganj station and gave birth to her child at platform number one.
“The lady constable of RPF, who was on duty at the station, set up a temporary enclosure and the delivery took place. A clean towel was also provided to them. Anil Kumar Tiwari said.
“Both the mother and the newborn are healthy. On receiving information, a GNM and a paramedical staff were sent to the station to look after him. Thereafter, the mother and her newborn were taken to Medinirai Medical College and Hospital (MMCH) in an ambulance after 10 pm,” said Palamu civil surgeon Dr John F. Kennedy told TOI on Friday.
Kennedy said the gynecologists at MMCH performed a medical checkup on Kumari, after which she was put on infusion and observation for the night, while the newborn was vaccinated against BCG and polio.
