3 people opened fire outside elderly woman’s house in Delhi

Three unidentified bike riders allegedly opened fire outside the house of a 78-year-old woman in east Delhi’s Pandav Nagar, police said on Sunday.

Police said the incident took place on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday when the elderly woman was sleeping with her family. Police said that no one was injured in the incident.

A senior police officer said that three people reached the house and one of them, who was carrying a gun, allegedly fired four rounds in the air, after which all three fled.

Police crime team also inspected the spot. Three empty cartridges and one live cartridge were recovered from the spot. The officer said that the CCTV footage of the crime scene and surroundings is being scanned to identify the accused.

DCP (East) Priyanka Kashyap said that a case has been registered under Indian Penal Code section 336 (Act endangering life or personal safety of others) and other relevant sections of Arms Act.
