3 teachers in DK, Udupi to receive state government award. Mangaluru News – Times of India

Two teachers from: Mangaluru/Udupi Dakshina Kannada And one from Udupi has been selected for the best teacher award of the state government.
teachers are Amitanand Hegde (Primary Teacher Category), Teacher in Government Upper Primary School, Bangadi, Radhakrishna T (High School Section), Science Teacher, Government PU College, Koyur, both in Belthangady Taluk, and Sanjeev DevadigaTeacher at a government lower primary school in Kervashe, Karkala taluk, Udupi district.
Radhakrishna has been selected to implement the first of its kind initiative in a school located in the remote village of Belthangadi.
Some of his achievements include securing 100% pass in SSLC examination for several consecutive years, implementation of rain water harvesting, construction of 200 meter sports track with a gallery, cultivation of endangered herbal medicinal plants in the school premises, Including the establishment of biodiversity. Radhakrishna, a native of Peruvai village in Bantwal taluk, said, “I am happy that the government has recognized my student-centric work for the last two decades.”
Amitanand Hegde has been selected for the development of the school and the use of teaching technology. Hegde is a resident of Ujire. “I have been teaching for the last 25 years. Over the years, with the help of SDMC, local people and donors, we have developed a school at par with private schools,’’ he said.
Hegde has been instrumental in bringing dropout students back to school and conducting home visits classes for differently abled children.
Sanjeev Devadiga, who has been teaching students in a Naxal-affected area with no internet connectivity, took a bold step to ensure education to children during the pandemic. Realizing that the students would be deprived of education for a long time, Devadiga convinced about 10-12 female graduate candidates to conduct classes at their homes. daily classes, which later became popular as akkana school15-16 students participated who stayed close to the homes of graduate candidates.
He was instrumental in increasing school admissions from 30 to 117. Devdiga also started LKG/UKG classes along with English syllabus.
