30 Delhi government school principals, officials to go on ‘leadership training’ at Cambridge University

Around 30 Delhi government school principals and education department officials will begin leadership training at Cambridge University from October 10, an official statement said. The training will be conducted for eight days under the initiative of Delhi Government with 30 Principals of Delhi Government Schools and officials of Education Department, 14th batch.

During their visit to Cambridge, the principal and officials will also visit three schools, Fulbridge Academy, Witchford Village College and Chesterton Community College, to understand the implementation of policies on the ground, the statement said. During the training, the principals will get an opportunity to meet education experts. They will also meet principals and teachers of three local educational institutions to understand how they are effectively implementing the country’s education policies on the ground, the statement said.

The main objective of this training is to provide principals with global knowledge about the use of digital technology in classrooms, the statement said. It added that the training includes developing leadership skills, skills required to manage high-performing teams and innovative pedagogy to be used by teachers for the all-round development of the students.

The principals and teachers of Delhi government schools are the pilots of the Delhi education revolution. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that his hard work and efforts have made government schools the most preferred choice among children and parents in Delhi. He said that the principals should go to Cambridge with an open mind and imbibe the best practices there.

He said that a new research component has been added this year to expand the horizons of leadership training. The University of Cambridge is known for developing the most unique assessment practices, and our school principals will be familiar with and learn from it during their journey. “This will help us in developing student-centred assessment practices that will reduce the stress from the lives of the students,” Sisodia said.
