30 killed, 15 injured in road accident in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

At least 30 passengers were killed and 15 others injured when a passenger bus and a car fell into a deep gorge, Geo News reported. Two vehicles fell into a gorge after colliding with each other on the Karakoram Highway in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Kohistan district on Tuesday.

The passenger bus was on its way from Gilgit to Rawalpindi when it collided with a car coming from the opposite direction in Shitial area of ​​the province, Geo News reported. On getting information about the incident, police and rescue officials reached the spot. The police took the injured and the dead bodies to the hospital.

Rescue officials said that the rescue teams were facing difficulties in the rescue operation due to darkness. Pakistan’s President Dr. Arif Alvi has expressed grief over the death of people in the bus accident. He expressed grief over the deaths in this tragic incident and prayed for the bereaved families.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has also expressed grief over the death of people in the bus accident near Chillas in Gilgit Baltistan. On January 29, 41 people were killed when a passenger coach fell into a gorge in Pakistan’s Balochistan, Dawn reported. The incident is of Lasbela district of Balochistan.

Lasbela’s assistant commissioner Hamza Anjum said that according to the Dawn report, the vehicle carrying 48 passengers was on its way to Karachi from Quetta. He said the vehicle hit a bridge pillar near Lasbela and later fell into a ravine and caught fire.

Dawn quoted Hamza Anjum as saying, “Due to high speed, the coach hit a bridge pillar while taking a U-turn near Lasbela. The vehicle later fell into a gorge and then caught fire.”
