32 students fall ill after consuming mid-day meal in Telangana: Officials

The contract awarded to the agency supplying mid-day meal has been cancelled, the official said. (file)

Karimnagar:

On Friday, 32 students fell ill after consuming mid-day meal at a Telangana government-run school.

District Education Officer (DEO) Dr A Ravinder Reddy said that a total of 114 students of Mandal Parishad Upper Primary School in Dimmadurthy village of Nirmal district took food and 32 of them fell ill.

Immediately 32 were given treatment in the primary health center. The DEO said that 12 of them are under observation and out of danger.

Responding to the DEO’s report, District Collector Musharraf Farooqui suspended the headmaster of the school.

The DEO said that the contract awarded to the food supply agency has been cancelled.
