390 villages in Telangana, most of them in Adilabad, ready to get 4G coverage

Of the 26,000 villages across the country, 390 of them in Telangana will get direct 4G network connectivity within 500 days, as part of the pan-India programme. Network will be created where there are no basic facilities. About 60% of this will come under Adilabad district.

It will cost around Rs 18 lakh to set up each tower as the program is being run in remote areas. However, the exact cost is yet to be ascertained.

Disclosing the details at a press conference here on Wednesday, Chief General Manager, BSNL Telangana Circle, KVN Rao said that maximum efforts are being made to improve the transmission network by five times and lay optical fiber cables to the extent of about 1,400 km at an estimated cost of Rs. Will go ₹60 crore. Depending on the detail, the cost may even cross ₹100 crore. He said that they are expanding 4G network on 5G enabled platform and hence 4G network will be easy to handle.

Shri Rao said that BSNL is enrolling Telecom Infrastructure Providers (TIPs) to provide Fiber to the Home (FTTH) connections, for which up to 50% share and additional sales commission, Franchise in Mobile Business and attractive Enterprise Business Solutions System integrators are being offered to provide. market share. Already 695 TIPs, 74 Franchisees, 20 System Integrators, 550 Direct Selling Agents and 11,000 Retailers have partnered with BSNL in Telangana.

Responding to a question, Mr. Rao said that apart from giving the building on lease for 10 years, they are monetizing the land. He said they have around 1.5 lakh sq.ft. They have 35,000 sq ft available to lease and this year’s target was 35,000 sq ft, adding that several government organizations are showing interest in leasing out the space.

Responding to repeated disruption of services due to digging of roads and construction of flyovers, Mr. Rao said that they are not being compensated for the loss by the GHMC or the state government and it is costing them more. Besides, obtaining permission from the State Government/local authorities was also becoming a herculean task.
