A four-year-old boy was mauled to death by stray dogs near Gujarat’s Surat city on Wednesday. Police gave this information.

The incident took place in Kareli village in the early hours when the boy had come out of his hut for defecation. At least four stray dogs attacked him and also injured his neck, an official said.

Police sub-inspector CM Gadhvi said, “The boy and his parents are from Rajasthan. They work as construction workers at a site in Kareli village and live in a makeshift hut there.”

Though the boy’s parents and other staff rescued him and rushed him to a hospital in Bardoli, about 11 km from the spot, he could not survive and was declared brought dead by the doctors.

Police has registered Accidental Death Report (ADR).
