400 urban forests to be built across India: Union Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey

Union Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey said that the Center has envisioned a project to develop 400 urban forests across the country to increase the green cover in urban areas.

He said that one such “Nagar Van” (city of forest) would also be developed in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Choubey said that nurseries would be set up in educational institutions to promote eco-friendly attitude among the children.

Ashwini Kumar Choubey said that it is a matter of privilege for him to dedicate various development projects as gifts to the people of Ramban on the birthday of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The minister said the people living in and around forest areas are the real custodians of forests, adding that the Center is contemplating to formulate a liberal policy with regard to the Forest Rights Act to ensure development and conservation of forests. .

Choubey, who is on a two-day visit to Ramban as part of the Centre’s public relations programme, said this while interacting with the representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) and the public.

He said the Centre, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is keen to usher in an era of inclusive development in Jammu and Kashmir, adding that the public outreach program is aimed at helping people meet their developmental needs at their doorsteps. have to go on. .

Describing Jammu and Kashmir as the crown of India, the Union Minister said that the Center is committed to the development and strengthening of the Union Territory in every aspect.

Responding to questions from journalists, he said that forces bent on breaking the secular fabric and disturbing the peaceful atmosphere and communal harmony in Jammu and Kashmir will not be spared.
