To make this dish, you need a mixture of refined flour, semolina, mawa, powdered sugar, cardamom powder and dry fruits like almonds, cashews and pistachios. The recipe is divided into two parts. First of all, knead the flour and prepare its outer layer. Second, roast semolina, mawa and dry fruits lightly and prepare stuffing in it. Keep a few things in mind while making Gujiya:

  1. Always add ghee while kneading dough in maida, because ghee makes Gujiya crispy.
  2. Knead the dough hard to make Gujiya.
  3. Dry roast dry fruits to give them extra crunch and increase their shelf life.
  4. Cover with a wet cloth to prevent the dough from drying out.
  5. Heat oil/ghee on medium flame, but keep the flame low while frying Gujiyas.
