57 new cases of corona in Delhi, no death in 24 hours; Positivity rate 0.08%

Delhi recorded 57 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, while the death due to the infection was none, the city’s health bulletin said. In fact, so far this month only one death has occurred in the city due to corona virus.

With today’s numbers, the cumulative total rises to 14,38,345, out of which over 14.12 lakh patients have recovered from the disease so far. According to the bulletin, the death toll is 25,083.

Wednesday’s bulletin said Delhi has 404 active cases, up from 400 on the previous day, while 95 patients are in home isolation, a slight drop from 98 a day earlier.

Currently, the positivity rate is 0.08%. The total number of tests conducted a day earlier stood at 74,199.

On Tuesday, Delhi recorded zero deaths due to coronavirus, along with 38 fresh infections with a positivity rate of 0.05%. The city recorded 17 cases, the lowest since March 28 last year and zero deaths on Monday, while the positivity rate stood at 0.04%. On Sunday, the national capital recorded 22 cases and zero deaths due to the infection.

According to government data, 1,5336113 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in the capital since the immunization exercise began on January 16. Over 1.09 crore people have received at least one dose.

Meanwhile, about 7,000 ICU beds are also being added to government health care facilities at Shalimar Bagh, Kirari, Sarita Vihar, Sultanpuri, Raghuveer Nagar, and GTB Hospital and Chacha Nehru Hospital. The capital currently has 10,000 ICU beds.

Delhi battled a brutal second wave of the pandemic with oxygen shortages in hospitals across the city claiming a large number of lives.

On April 20, Delhi had reported 28,395 cases, the highest in the city since the start of the pandemic. The case positivity rate on April 22 was 36.2 percent, which is the highest ever.

The maximum number of 448 deaths occurred on 3 May.
