5G coverage plans complete in nearly 1,000 Indian cities: Reliance Jio

Reliance Jio The company on Friday said it has completed 5G coverage plans in at least 1,000 Indian cities and is currently testing advanced use cases in healthcare and industrial automation on its 5G network.

Jio said the network will be based on targeted customer consumption and revenue by using heat maps, 3D maps and ray tracing technology for accurate coverage planning to target high consumption and high perception locations.

In addition, the company said that it has partnered with WhatsApp to simplify the prepaid recharge experience, thereby providing unprecedented convenience to the consumers.

Apart from this, it also said that Jio Platforms reported 8.8% growth in net profit on Friday 3,795 crore for the third quarter ended December 2021.

The company posted a net profit of 3,486 crore in the same period a year ago.

Gross revenue from operations increased by 5.76% 24,176 crore from 22,858 crore in the period October-December 2020.

Reliance Jio (RJIL), the telecom services arm of Jio Platforms, reports 9.85 rise in net profit 3,615 crore for the quarter, as compared to 3,291 crore in the year-ago period.

RJIL’s revenue from operations rises to 4.625 from 19,347 crore 18,492 crore earlier.

Jio Platforms’ total subscriber base stood at 421 crore at the end of December 2021, compared to around 41 crore a year ago.

This comes days after the central government named 13 cities that are likely to launch 5G services in 2022.

Cities include Gurugram, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Delhi, Jamnagar, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Pune and Gandhi Nagar.
