60% attendance in the first edition of CUET-UG, NTA . Is said

The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Tuesday said that 60 per cent attendance was recorded in the first edition of Common University Entrance Test (CUET)-UG. The CUET-UG was concluded on last Wednesday.

NTA also stated that the last day CUET-UG could not be conducted at a center in Jharkhand due to slow internet. It said that 103 candidates have been affected due to non-conduct of examination at one center in Jharkhand.

However, a senior NTA official has said that the exam for these candidates will be conducted at a later date.

As per the initial plan, all the phases of CUET-UG were to end on August 20. However, the exam was postponed and divided into six phases to accommodate the students whose exams were rescheduled due to several glitches in the exam.

From technical glitches to last minute change in exam center and uninformed change in exam dates to cards mentioning back dates, students are facing many of these issues. CUET-UG is the second largest exam in the country with 19.9 lakh registrations. The average registration of JEE Main stood at nine lakhs.

CUET is the common gateway for undergraduate admission in all central universities. NEET-UG is the biggest entrance exam in India, with an average of 18 lakh registrations.

There were many glitches in the first edition of CUET-UG which led to the cancellation of the exam. The issues included exam center change, cancellation of exams after reports of “sabotage”, change in exam dates without notice and postponement of exams to accommodate center choice.
