Gurugram: More than seven months after the term of the Residents Advisory Council (RAC) ended, GMDA A new panel is yet to be constituted. The first such body was set up by the authority in December 2019. The tenure of a RAC is two years.
The GMDA had started receiving applications for the membership of the council from September 2021. However, the process is stuck for the last two months as the authority is awaiting the approval of the Chief Minister. Manohar Lal KhattriWho is also the President of GMDA.

After the final list is approved by the Chairman, a new RAC will formally come into existence, and a notification will be uploaded on the Authority’s website for the information of the public for one month. After this the first meeting of the new RAC will be held.
As per the GMDA Act, 2017, a RAC has been set up to advise and guide the Authority in its functions. The panel will also oversee the implementation of annual plans for infrastructure development, mobility management and sustainable management. For example, the Comprehensive Mobility Management Plan (CMMP) released by GMDA in December 2020 had to be approved by the council before it was formally finalised.
In addition to ex-officio members such as the Deputy Commissioner and the MCG Commissioner, a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 15 residents will be selected from among those listed under various categories, such as those associated with civil society, industries or residents’ welfare associations. The term of the first council, constituted in 2019, ended in December last year.
