Ranchi: The Jharkhand cabinet on Monday approved a proposal to increase Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners by four per cent with effect from July 1 this year.

An official said this would benefit about two lakh government employees and 1.35 lakh pensioners.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren presided over the meeting of the state cabinet.

Cabinet Secretary Vandana Dudel said that the Council of Ministers has approved a proposal to increase the dearness allowance payable to state government employees from the existing 34 per cent to 38 per cent with effect from July 1, 2022.

He said that the cabinet has also decided to increase the dearness relief for pensioners from the existing 34 per cent to 38 per cent.

19 proposals have been approved by the Council of Ministers, including a plan to hold urban local body (ULB) elections without OBC reservation in 2023.
