Eight fishermen, who went missing on May 8, two days ago off the coast in Machilipatnam in Andhra Pradesh, were traced on Thursday and brought back safely, police said.

Krishna district superintendent of police Siddhartha Kaushal said the fishermen had entered the sea on a mechanized boat off Andhra Pradesh’s Machilipatnam coast without informing the fisheries department, though the community was advised to step out of the sea in view of the impending cyclone Was.

After the cyclone reached Machilipatnam coast on May 10, they panicked and somehow reached a safe place and informed their families, the senior police officer said.

Thereafter their families approached the Fisheries Department and the Marine Police.

Marine and local police launched a joint operation and they traced the fishermen on May 11 near Malakaylanka village, 150 km from Machilipatnam coast.

He said that all the eight fishermen with the help of Krishna District Police reached the Machilipatnam beach safely this evening.

The eight fishermen – S Rambabu, P Suribabu, V Ramana, K Satyam, G Apparao, P Kameswara Rao, S Bhavani and P Apparao – belonged to Gilkaldindi area of ​​Machilipatnam town, a senior police officer said.
