8-year-old boy dies after being hit by train in Thrissur, Kerala

Thrissur (Kerala):

An eight-year-old boy died after he was hit by a Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) train in this central Kerala district on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Rizwan.

The incident took place at 8.35 am when the boy along with his brother was crossing the railway line in Mullurkara area.

Police said the brothers and sisters were on their way back home after attending a class at a madrasa.

The boy’s brother narrowly survived in the incident.

Police said the body would be handed over to the family after the post-mortem.

MEMU is a commuter rail system operated by the Indian Railways for semi-urban and rural areas.
