9,419 new Covid cases, 159 deaths reported in India in last 24 hours

New Delhi: With 9,419 more people testing positive for Covid in a day, India’s infections rose to 3,46,66,241, while active cases rose to 94,742, according to data updated by the Union health ministry on Thursday.

The death toll rose to 4,74,111 after 159 fresh people died, showed data updated at 8 am.

The daily increase in new coronavirus infections has been recorded below 10,000 for 13 consecutive days and below 50,000 for 165 consecutive days.

The Health Ministry said that the active cases have risen to 94,742, comprising 0.27 per cent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.36 per cent, up from March 2020. The latter is the most.

The active COVID-19 caseload has registered an increase of 1,009 cases in a 24-hour period.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.73 per cent. For the last 66 days, it is less than two per cent.

The weekly positivity rate was also recorded at 0.74 per cent. According to the ministry, it has been below one percent for the last 25 days.

The number of people recovering from the disease rose to 3,40,97,388, while the death rate was recorded at 1.37 per cent.

The cumulative dose administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination campaign has exceeded 130.39 crore.

India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20 lakh mark on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on 23 August, 40 lakh on 5 September and 50 lakh on 16 September. It had crossed 60 lakh on 28 September, 70 lakh on 11 October. 80 lakh on 29 October, 90 lakh on 20 November and crossed the one crore mark on 19 December.

India crossed the grim milestone of 20 million on 4 May and 30 million on 23 June.

The 125 new people include 112 people from Kerala, 11 from Tamil Nadu and 10 from Maharashtra.

A statement by the Kerala government said that out of 112 deaths, 35 were recorded in the last few days and 77 were COVID-19 deaths after receiving an appeal based on the new guidelines of the Center and directions of the Supreme Court. designated as. ,

A total of 4,74,111 deaths have been reported in the country so far, including 1,41,204 from Maharashtra, 42,014 from Kerala, 38,249 from Karnataka, 36,560 from Tamil Nadu, 25,100 from Delhi, 22,911 from Uttar Pradesh and 19,568 from West Bengal.

The health ministry insisted that over 70 per cent of the deaths were due to comorbidities.

“Our data is being collated with the Indian Council of Medical Research,” the ministry said on its website. The state wise distribution of data is subject to further verification and reconciliation.
