India today held formal diplomatic contact with the Taliban, which has taken control of Afghanistan following the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan in the past few days. An Indian envoy met a leader of the terror group in Qatar’s capital Doha. This meeting took place after the request of the new rulers of the conflict-affected country.
