Gurugram: A Rajiv Chowk parking contractor has been booked for extortion as parking fee from heavy vehicles after a truck driver was allegedly issued a bill of Rs 41,800. The police gave this information on Monday.
Yadav said Abhay Singh Yadav, a resident of Rajasthan, who supplies construction material to traders in Delhi-NCR and its adjoining areas at Shivaji Nagar police station, has complained that his truck was towed for overloading on October 1. Was. He could not pay the fine immediately and the vehicle was kept in the Rajiv Chowk parking lot.
“When I went to pick up my truck the next day, the parking contractor asked me to pay Rs 39,600 as fee,” Yadav said, adding that he returned with the amount two days later, but was given Rs 41,800. was asked to pay. Yadav said, “When I asked how he calculated the fee, the contractor told me that the truck has 22 tires and he charged Rs 100 per tire per day. The complainant said that ultimately he had to pay Rs 40,000. But no receipt was issued.
Police spokesperson Subhash Boken said that a case under section 384 (extortion) of the IPC has been registered against the accused Devendra Singh. As per an agreement with the district administration, the contractor will have to pay Rs 30, Rs 40, Rs 50 and Rs 100 for vehicles of different sizes. “In violation of the contract, the contractor was charging Rs 100 per wheel from heavy vehicles,” Boken said. He said that no arrest has been made so far.
