A case of blasphemy has been filed against former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan in Faisalabad after his supporters allegedly harassed Pakistan PM Shahbaz Sharif in Medina, Saudi Arabia last Thursday.

A case of blasphemy has been filed against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan and others in Faisalabad after the former PM’s supporters allegedly harassed Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Medina, Saudi Arabia last Thursday.

According to media reports, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has vowed that Imran Khan will be arrested in a case related to “hooliganism and sloganeering against Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and his delegation to Medina”.

Former Home Minister Sheikh Rashid and Imran Khan’s Chief of Staff Shahbaz Gill, Among others, has been named as an accused in the case.

What happened?

In the video clip that surfaced on social media, the pilgrims – purportedly Imran Khan’s supporters – shouted ‘Thief‘(thief) and’traitor‘ (Traitor) As soon as Shahbaz Sharif and other members of his delegation reached the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina last Thursday.

Pakistani pilgrims also allegedly used abusive language against the delegation. Medina Police has claimed that five Pakistanis involved in the sloganeering have been arrested.

Meanwhile, in a TV interview on Saturday, Imran Khan distanced himself from the pilgrims and said that he “can’t even imagine asking anyone to raise slogans at the holy place.”
