A man and his two sons committed suicide in Nashik, allegedly troubled by debt

New Delhi:

A 52-year-old fruit trader and his two sons allegedly committed suicide in Maharashtra’s Nashik city on Sunday. A police officer gave information about this. Deepak Shirode, his son Prasad (26) and Rakesh (23) were found hanging in three different parts of their house at Radhakrishna Nagar in Satpur suburb of the city this afternoon, police said.

He said, “At that time other members of the house had gone out. When they came around 4 pm, the main door was locked from inside. They broke open the doors with the help of neighbours.

Officials said a note in the ledger of the house named a moneylender, who was allegedly harassing them to repay the loan, though the note and its authenticity are being verified.

Officials from the Satpur police station said, “Deepak was a fruit dealer. It seems that the family was in financial trouble. Further investigation is being done.

Meanwhile, Nashik Police Commissioner Shinde asked people to come forward and complain if they are being harassed by moneylenders.
