A small Shiva temple situated in the Zabarwan hills of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir has become the talk of the town. The reason behind this is the temple keeper Nisar Ahmed Alai, who despite being a Muslim has been taking care of the holy site for months. Alai is a specially-abled person who is blind and hearing impaired. But despite his shortcomings, Alai takes care of this temple with utmost determination and responsibility. Alai’s father looked after the temple for six years. After that, Alai went ahead and took care of it including cleaning and protecting the temple. Local people believe that this temple is a sign of mutual brotherhood of Kashmir. It is because of such examples that the world has marveled at India’s ability to remain united despite its diversity.
