Aadhaar: Do not share Aadhaar photocopy with any organization to prevent misuse: UIDAI – Times of India

New Delhi: Unique Identification Authority of India ,UIDAI) has warned against sharing of photocopies in an advisory Base With any organization citing the potential for abuse.
As an alternative, the notice recommended the use of “masked Aadhaar”, which displays only the last 4 digits of the 12-digit Aadhaar number. Masked Aadhaar can be downloaded from https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in.
It also advised against using public computers for Aadhaar download.
The release said, “Please avoid using public computers in Internet cafes/kiosks for downloading e-Aadhaar. However, if you do so, please ensure that you access all downloaded e-Aadhaar Permanently delete the copies from that computer.”
“Only organizations that have received one user license One can use Aadhaar to establish the identity of an individual from UIDAI. Unlicensed private entities like hotels or film halls are not allowed to collect or keep copies of Aadhar cards. This is an offense under the Aadhaar Act 2016. In case any private entity seeks to view the Aadhar card or asks for a photocopy of the Aadhar card, please verify that they have a valid user license from UIDAI.”

The existence of any Aadhaar number can be verified at https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/verifyAadhaar. QR code can be scanned to verify offline e-Aadhaar or using QR code scanner in Aadhar letter or Aadhar PVC card Base: mobile application, informed UIDAI.
