Noida: The Aam Aadmi Party will hold protests across Uttar Pradesh, including Gautam Buddh Nagar district, on Wednesday over “corruption” in the BJP government in the state, party functionaries said here on Tuesday.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) district unit president Neeraj Judoun said that the Matka Phodo campaign will be launched against the corruption of thousands of crores done by the state government in Jal Jeevan Mission.

AAP’s District Spokesperson Sanjeev Nigam said, ‘Matka Phodo’ is being demonstrated across the state on the call of party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh to expose corruption worth thousands of crores in Jal Jeevan Mission in the state government. “

The local BJP unit, however, termed the AAP’s allegations without any substance and a bid to create “sensation”.

BJP spokesperson Tanmay Shankar told PTI, “AAP is just indulging in air babble and raising non-issues as they have no real issue against the government.”

“The AAP, which has the government in Delhi, itself is facing probe into the purchase of DTC buses, so everyone should be the last to talk about corruption,” he said.

The AAP had earlier this month accused Uttar Pradesh Jal Shakti Minister Mahendra Singh of awarding a contract worth crores of rupees to an unapproved company and supplying water at 40 per cent higher rates than the standard tender.
