Account of 600 houses cleared after satellite survey in ‘sinking’ Joshimath

In view of the incident of landslide in Joshimath, Uttarakhand, the administration is in action. After satellite survey, 600 have been shifted from Joshimath to safer places. As per our information, 60 houses have been evacuated and around 4,000 people have been shifted to safer places, a senior home ministry official told NDTV. The official said that small sections of the Army and ITBP have also been affected. There are cracks, in view of the situation, adequate security measures are being adopted.

Disaster bulletin has been issued by the government. A total of 678 buildings and 2 hotels have been signed in the first phase. Disaster Management Secretary Ranjit Sinha said that representatives of Jyotirmath have met Chief Minister Dhami. Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami spoke to Shankaracharya over phone. Shankaracharya has asked the CM to improve the preparation of the administration.

DM of Chamoli district Himanshu Khurana said that in view of the seriousness of the matter, all the dangerous buildings of this religious city are being marked with ‘X’ in red colour. After the district administration declared these buildings unsafe to live in, its residents are being shifted to a safer place. Chamoli’s Disturbance Magistrate Himanshu Khurana told news agency ANI on Monday, “Under the Aapda Prabandhan Act (Disaster Management Act), we draw all those areas which are unfit for survival. Sindhis in these areas Gandhinagar And indulge. Gardens indulge.”

It has been alleged that Joshimath has been declared a ‘sinking zone’ in the wake of frequent subsidence incidents, with several houses and promenades having developed cracks in the past few days, causing distress to the residents of the area. Joshimath, situated at an altitude of 6150 ft (1875 m), is the gateway to many Himalayan mountaineering expeditions, trekking expeditions and popular pilgrimage centers like Kedarnath Badrinath.
