The Kerala government has accused the governor of creating a constitutional crisis in the state.

Kerala’s ruling CPI(M) on Tuesday accused Governor Arif Mohammad Khan of creating a constitutional crisis in the state at the behest of the BJP and the RSS.

Local self-government minister MB Rajesh and former state finance minister Thomas Isaac alleged that the governor was trying to implement BJP-RSS policies in Kerala and this was evident from his conduct in the last few days.

Mr Rajesh alleged that the BJP knows that it cannot buy or intimidate Left MLAs to join it, as it did in other states like Karnataka and Goa, and “therefore, they are here to create a constitutional crisis”. trying to.” Speaking on similar lines, Isaac alleged, “Wherever there is a non-BJP government, they are using the governor to create problems in those states. Look at Maharashtra, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Jharkhand, It is absolutely happening. Those places, not just Kerala.” He said that withholding the assent of the university laws and Lokayukta Amendment Bills by the Governor and saying in advance that he would not sign them without seeing them shows a pre-conceived mindset.

Mr Rajesh said the governor’s conduct indicates “who he is working for and where is the remote control.” “The Sangh is creating this constitutional crisis by using the governor,” he said.

Thomas Isaac said that the governor should understand his position and powers.

“He is bound to act as per the advice of the cabinet. But he is acting like the king of Kerala. This is not acceptable. The only solution to the problem is to fight it politically,” he said.

“Who is it that says he will not sign bills passed by an elected government and puts it in his pocket,” Mr. Isaacs continued.

The reactions of the two CPI(M) leaders come a day after the governor held a meeting at the Raj Bhavan for releasing video clips of alleged assaults against them at Kannur University in 2019 and letters sent to them by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
