India added 6,298 new coronavirus The total number of COVID-19 cases due to the infection rose to 4,45,22,777, while the active cases stood at 46,748, according to the data updated by the Union Health Ministry on Friday.

The death toll rose to 5,28,273 with 23 fatalities, including four deaths reconciled by Kerala, data updated at 8 am.

The ministry said active cases comprise 2.04% of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has risen to 98.71%.

The active COVID-19 caseload has registered an increase of 359 cases in a 24-hour period.

According to the ministry, the daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.89% and the weekly positivity rate was 1.70%.

India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed 20 lakh on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It had crossed 60 lakh on 28 September, 70 lakh on 11 October. 80 lakh on 29 October, 90 lakh on 20 November and crossed the one crore mark on 19 December.

The country crossed the grim milestone of 20 million on May 4 and 30 million on June 23 last year. It had crossed the four crore mark on January 25 this year.
