Actor Nagarjuna adopts 1,080 acres of land to set up an urban park in Chengicherla

Film actor Nagarjuna adopted 1,080 acres of forest land to set up an urban park named after his father and late actor and Dadasaheb Phalke Award winner Akkineni Nageswara Rao, and donated ₹2 crore to ‘Haritha Nidhi’, a The idea was conceived by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao.

At the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the Chief Minister’s birthday celebrations on February 17, Mr. Nagarjuna along with TRS MP Joginiyapalli Santhosh Kumar and his family members, including actors-sons Naga Chaitanya and Akhil, participated.

Mr. Nagarjuna said that he is inspired by Mr. Kumar’s Green India Challenge program to create green cover in the state and the country. He said that during the finale of the reality show Bigg Boss, which he hosts, he discussed adopting Vanbhoomi with Mr. Kumar and announced on stage that he would adopt Vanbhoomi.

Shri Santosh Kumar announced that with the establishment of an urban park in the name of late Nageswara Rao, one lakh saplings would be planted in the vacant land. He said that 1.5 lakh acres of forest land around Hyderabad would be protected, protected and developed as part of the Green India Challenge programme. The MP said that businessmen, entrepreneurs and organizations willing to be a part of this social responsibility can contribute.

Special Chief Secretary (Forest) Shantha Kumari, PCCF R Shobha, Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat, Hyderabad Chief Conservator MJ Akbar, Medchal Forest Officer Venkateshwarlu and GIC company founder Raghav were present.

The Chengicherla forest block is in the Uppal-Medipalli area on the Hyderabad-Warangal highway comprising 1,682 acres of forest land. Under the Green India Challenge, three forest blocks were taken up for adoption, in which Mr Kumar has adopted 2,042 acres of land in Kesara to develop an eco-park.

Film actor Prabhas has acquired 1,650 acres of land in Khajipalli forest area and pharma giant Hetero Drugs has acquired 2,543 acres in Mambapur forest area on Narasapur Road.
