The actor suffered a heart attack a day after he received his first dose of Covaxin at the Tamil Nadu Government’s Multi-Super-Specialty Hospital in Chennai’s Omandurar Government Estate. He was brought to Sims Hospital in Vadapalani in an unconscious condition. He was transferred to the catheterization laboratory. An emergency coronary angiography indicated 100% block in the left anterior descending artery. He underwent angioplasty and was put on ECMO support.

“Incident events are events that are reported after vaccination, but investigations find obvious causes other than vaccination,” the committee said.

The committee emphasized that “the benefits of vaccination far outweigh the small risk of harm”. “As a measure of utmost caution, all emerging signs of damage are being continuously tracked and reviewed from time to time.”

Talking to the media, Health Minister Mr. Subramaniam said there was a drop in the vaccination campaign due to the controversy over the actor’s death. “It is important to take the truth to the people. The state government had confirmed that his death was not due to vaccination.”
