Facing corruption charges in Chhattisgarh, Adani Group’s corporate brand custodian and head of corporate affairs, Aman Kumar Singh, has resigned from the board of NDTV Ltd due to other engagements.

In a stock exchange filing, New Delhi Television Limited last week said, “Aman Kumar Singh has resigned from the post of Non-Executive Director of the company with effect from the close of business hours on April 1, 2023. Other preoccupation with engagements”.

Singh, a former Indian Revenue Service officer, was a powerful bureaucrat in the Raman Singh-led BJP government in Chhattisgarh and was principal secretary to the chief minister.

He resigned from the service and joined Adani Group in November 2022 as Corporate Brand Custodian and Head of Corporate Affairs. And when Adani took control of NDTV, Singh was one of the directors appointed by the Adani group to the news broadcaster’s board.

In February 2020, the Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) of Chhattisgarh registered an FIR against Singh and his wife Yasmeen Singh in connection with alleged disproportionate assets.

The High Court quashed the FIR, but the Supreme Court last month set aside the High Court order, saying it was desirable that the High Court should not quash FIRs in corruption cases at the stage of investigation, even if it There is doubt as to by whom the case has been registered. Following the Supreme Court order, Aman Singh appeared before the EOW on 6 March. A week later, an additional district and sessions judge’s court in Raipur rejected his anticipatory bail plea.

Singh is the second nominee of the Adani group to resign from the NDTV board.

On March 9, NDTV said in a stock exchange filing that Sunil Kumar has resigned as an additional non-executive independent director of the company.

Kumar, a 1979 batch IAS officer, was the Chief Secretary of Chhattisgarh from 2012 to 2014.
