To prepare this spicy tadka, you need onions, tomatoes, ginger, garlic, green chilies, coriander, oil, cumin seeds, turmeric, red chili powder, coriander powder, asafoetida and kasoori methi.

Easy Dal Tadka Recipe: How To Make Spicy Dal Tadka

To make this delicious Dal Tadka recipe, let’s start with lentils. Take a cup of pigeon pea and wash it thoroughly. Now, add 3 cups of water and washed lentils to the pressure cooker. Add salt (to taste), turmeric and a pinch of asafoetida. Mix them well and close the lid and keep it on high flame. Wait for three whistles. Once this is done, keep it at rest until the pressure is gone.

Now take a pan for tadka recipe and heat it by adding some oil. First put cumin and asafoetida in the pan and then add chopped onion. Cook the onion till it becomes slightly transparent. Now add finely chopped ginger and garlic and fry it. Add a chopped tomato and fry it. Add red chili powder, coriander powder and kasoori methi to it. Mix it well and fry this mixture for 2 minutes. Now, it’s time to add our cooked dal to this tempering mixture. Mix them well and cook for two minutes. You can sprinkle some garam masala (as per taste). Serve hot garnished with coriander leaves.
