President Ram Nath Kovind on Saturday advised Tezpur University to adopt some villages and develop the university under the new model of social responsibility.

President Ram Nath Kovind on Saturday advised Tezpur University to adopt some villages and develop the university under the new model of social responsibility. Addressing the 19th Convocation of the University, he expressed happiness over the initiative of introducing various innovative solutions to the rural people.

After handing over the degree certificates to the students of the institute, Kovind said that Tezpur University can adopt a model of social responsibility in line with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). He said that the Central University, which is situated on the banks of river Brahmaputra in Tezpur, can adopt some villages and help in their overall development. Kovind, a visitor to the university, appealed to the students at Kalaguru Bishnuprasad Rabha (KBR) auditorium to actively participate in the promotion and marketing of organic products from the North-East region.

He also lauded the Assam government’s efforts to conserve biodiversity and said that he would visit Kaziranga National Park later in the day to take stock of various such initiatives. The Governor of Assam and Chancellor of Tezpur University Jagdish Mukhi, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, several state ministers, MPs and MLAs were also present in the program.
