Adult brain may partially recover from genetic blindness: Study News – Times of India Videos

A new understanding of how some visually impaired people may come to see provides a new perspective on the brain’s ability. Researchers from the University of California, Irvine School of Biological Sciences and School of Medicine collaborated to uncover that the adult brain can recover from inherited blindness. Administration of chemical compounds that target the retina called synthetic retinoids can restore a remarkable amount of vision in children with LCA. The UCI team wanted to find out whether treatment could make a difference for adults who have the condition.
