Iranian side Nassaji Mazandaran got the better of Indian unit Mumbai City FC by a scoreline of 2-0 at the Azadi Stadium in Tehran on Tuesday in the AFC Champions League.

Nassaji solidified their position in the third position in group D with 6 points to their name in 5 games. The Iranian unit have managed to win two games, both against Mumbai City FC.

Mumbai on the other hand, are yet to open their account in the tournament this season and remain at the foot of the group with zero points to their name.
Saudi Pro League Side Al Hilal top Group D with 13 points from 5 games, having won four games and drawn one, followed by Uzbeki side Navbahor Namangan, who are placed second with 10 points thanks to their 3 wins, a draw and a loss.
Mumbai, who are already out of the qualification race, will take on Navbahor in their final fixture of the continental competition and will look to get a win in order to go out on a high.
In the other remaining fixture in the group, Al Hilal will face off against Nassaji in their final fixture of the group stage of the AFC Champions League.
Mumbai City went down by the same scoreline to Nassaji in the reverse fixture, before going down 3-0 to Navbahor.

MCFC’s fortunes did not change in the following game as they were hammered 6-0 on the road by AL Hilal before the Saudi outfit made it a double over the Islander with their 2-0 win in Mumbai.
Mumbai City’s former coach Des Buckingham, who led the side to the ISL league shield and their first-ever win in the AFC Champions League last year stepped down from his position at the helm of the Islanders to take up a role in England with Oxford United.
