After Anand, Karti, Tharoor, Manish Tewari expressed concern over Congress President’s election

After Congress leader Anand Sharma, another senior party leader Manish Tewari has expressed concern over the election process related to the Congress President. Tiwari, MP from Sri Anandpur Sahib, expressed concern after the party announced the election schedule.

Tiwari cited a tweet written by Congress MP Karti Chidambaram, son of P Chidambaram and raised the issue in the electoral process.

Chidambaram wrote, “Every election requires a well-defined and clear-cut electoral college. The process of constitution of an electoral college should also be clear, well-defined and transparent. An ad-hoc electoral college is not an electoral college.”

Tewari referred to Chidambaram’s tweet on his official Twitter account and said, “My colleague in Parliament Karti Chidambaram is present. Electoral college must be constitutionally constituted for any election to be kosher. I read in newspapers Anand Sharma had expressed this widely shared concern at the CWC and he also publicly confirmed that he had raised it”.

In a series of tweets, the Congress MP questioned how there can be a fair and free election without a publicly available voter list. “The essence of a fair and independent process is that the names and addresses of voters should be published on the Congress website in a transparent manner,” he said.

Congress MP and G-23 leader Tiwari objected to the party not disclosing the names of voters for the party president election and said it should be published on the AICC website to ensure transparency.

“Why should one visit every PCC office in the country to find out who the electors are? This does not happen with great respect even in club elections. In the interest of fairness and transparency, I ask your good personality to publish this. Complete list of voters on Congress website. How can one consider running if voters don’t know who the voters are. If one has to file his/her nomination and propose it by 10 Congressmen as per requirement If done, the CEA can reject it saying that they are not valid voters,” he said.

Congress MP Shashi TharoorThose who have expressed the party’s intention to contest the presidential election, agree with Tiwari, saying that everyone should know who can nominate and who can vote.

“Certainly, I think it is important that everyone should have transparency in electoral rolls. If that is what Manish has asked for, I am sure it is a principle that everyone will agree. Everyone should know that Who can nominate and who can vote. There is nothing wrong in that,” Tharoor agreed with Tiwari at a function in Thiruvananthapuram.

Additionally, Congress MP Anand Sharma had also objected to the election process in the last meeting of the CWC. He also asked whether the sanctity of the election process was followed as per the party’s constitution.

A wave of resentment can be seen in the Congress party, which has already suffered a setback after the party veteran last week Ghulam Nabi Azadi offered his resignation after serving the party for more than five decades.

In a stern five-page note to Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi, Azad wrote, “The entire organizational election process is a sham and a sham. No elections have been held at any level of the organization, anywhere in the country. Elected AICC The lieutenants are forced to sign lists prepared by the troupe running the AICC sitting at 24, Akbar Road.

Taking a jibe at Rahul Gandhi, Azad wrote, “Since the 2019 elections, the situation in the party has only worsened. Not after Rahul Gandhi became ‘apprehensive’ and not before insulting all senior party functionaries who had left the party. At the Extended Working Committee meeting, you took over as the interim chairman. A position you have held for the last three years.”

The Congress Working Committee (CWC) had on Sunday decided that the election for the post of Congress President would be held on October 17. Counting of votes will take place on October 19.

This comes in the backdrop of the resignation of senior party leader Ghulam Nabi Azad on Friday. According to sources, with Rahul Gandhi not contesting the election, now the election of the President has become a challenge for the Congress.

The Central Election Authority has made preparations to complete the election process on time. According to media reports, Rahul Gandhi is not willing to contest for the post of Congress President, so the process seems to be stuck, although all efforts are still on to persuade him.
