After Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, Ahmedabad-Dholera corridor to be next big project

After the inauguration of the first phase of the much-awaited Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, all eyes are on the 109-km Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway. By January 2024, India’s first high-speed multimodal corridor linking the country’s road and rail networks should be finished.

Dholera, which till recently was a dormant city in Gujarat, is now being developed as India’s first greenfield smart city. It has been planned in such a way that the new smart city will be connected by all modes of transport – roads, metro, seaport and airport.

Dholera, which is now part of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC), has already attracted the attention of investors. A new state-of-the-art airport is also coming up 80 km away from Ahmedabad. This will ease traffic at the already congested Ahmedabad airport.

Apart from the Ahmedabad Dholera Expressway, the over 1220 km long Amritsar-Jamnagar Expressway will be another highlight point. Once completed, it will be the second longest expressway in the country connecting four states: Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Gujarat along with major economic cities as well as refineries including Amritsar, Bhatinda, Bikaner, Sangaria, Sanchore, Samakhiali and Jamnagar. stretch. But Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his team have put it on a war footing to upgrade and improve the country’s infrastructure. Several expressways are coming up crossing states across the country, changing the profile of India by boosting connectivity.

The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is the biggest project undertaken by the National Highways Authority of India, connecting the national capital with the country’s financial capital will be important as the country presses the pedal on economic growth.

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, under whose aegis the expressway has come up, said that like heliports, ‘drone ports’ can also be developed on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.
