After Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant met with a horrific car accident on the Delhi-Dehradun highway, the National Highways Authority of India reportedly started repair work at the accident site in the early hours of Sunday. Indian cricketer Pant, who is currently undergoing treatment at Max Hospital in Dehradun, said that he was trying to avoid the pothole at the time of the accident. It is being told that the repair work was left incomplete due to traffic jam on the highway.

According to reports, an NHAI team inspected the stretch on National Highway-58 on Saturday afternoon and filled the potholes late at night. Rishabh Pant has told Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) director Shyam Sharma and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami that at the time of the accident, he was trying to avoid a pothole in Uttarakhand’s Haridwar district. Dhami told reporters after meeting Pant in Dehradun, “Rishabh Pant told me that he saw potholes and something black while driving, after which he lost control of his car.”

However, according to a Hindustan Times report, PS Gusain, project director (Roorkee), NHAI, has claimed that there were no potholes on the road and the NHAI staff only did some patchwork to smoothen the road. He also said that what Pant saw could just be a fluke.

Pant, who was visited by the DDCA director, said that Pant had informed him about the pothole. “It was night time and he was trying to save his car from a pothole at the time of the accident,” Sharma said. The DDCA director also met Pant’s family on Saturday and said that he is doing well. Meanwhile, the CM of Uttarakhand, who met Pant on Sunday, also said that Pant’s health will improve further in a day or two.

The Indian batsman was admitted to Max Hospital after initial treatment at Saksham Hospital Multispeciality and Trauma Centre. According to a statement released by the BCCI, “Rishabh has two cuts on his forehead, torn ligaments in his right knee and also bruises on his right wrist, ankle, toe and abrasions on his back.” “
