After the defeat in the UP assembly elections, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav dissolved the fronts, units of all the parties.

In a major organizational change after the defeat of the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav On Sunday, all party fronts and units were dissolved except SP chief Yadav and UP state president Naresh Uttam Patel.

The tweet read: “Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav ji has called for dissolution of all other units and frontal organization including youth organisations, Mahila Sabha and all other cells, state presidents and district, except the President of the Uttar Pradesh unit of the party. has decided. Presidents and Nationals. The State and District Executive have been dissolved with immediate effect.

According to highly placed sources, the new committee will have leaders who broke away from other parties like Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during the 2022 assembly elections.

Some old guards of the SP will also be seen in an active role in the new committee.

Looking at the 2024 elections

Sources said that leaders from BSP will be given responsibility, while leaders of Dalit, OBC and Muslim communities will be given important posts. There are also plans to accommodate Brahmin and Kayastha community leaders in the new working committee.

A spokesperson of the party said that this is a big step which is being linked to preparations for the 2024 parliamentary elections.

According to sources, a new executive committee of SP can be formed after the national convention of SP to be held in the last week of August or early September.

Yadav, who had set a target of winning 400 seats in the 403-member UP Assembly, had to be content with just 111 seats.

Several politicians and political analysts had questioned the functioning of the SP chief, and many accused him of being surrounded by his “kitchen cabinet”.

The SP has failed to deliver on its expectations since 2017, when Yadav took over as party chief.
