After the Noida Twin Towers collapse, a mountain of rubble, mega clean-up: 10 points

The Twin Towers were demolished yesterday afternoon by a controlled explosion

New Delhi:
Residents of Noida’s Emerald Court Housing Society woke up today when a mountain of debris was left behind due to a controlled explosion that brought the Supertech twin towers to the ground, ending their nine-year legal battle with the realtor.

  1. Visuals from the site showed cleaners working, removing a layer of dust from the ground near the site where the twin towers stood as of 2.30 pm yesterday.

  2. The covers of buildings next to the twin towers, which were erected to reduce the ingress of dust caused by the explosions, have not yet come off, and a huge mass of debris can be seen in front of them.

  3. NDTV spoke to Aarti Kappula, a member of the Resident Welfare Association of the housing society in Sector 93A, Noida. She said that she returned home around 11.30 pm. “Smell of dynamite, everything else was fine. We just took off the covers of the AC and went to sleep.”

  4. This morning, she said, she woke up to a clear sky. “We had received an advisory that there would be pollution. When I woke up I saw a blue sky, so I came out without a mask,” said the RWA member who manages the housekeeping and gardening services for the society.

  5. When asked if there are any plans to celebrate the legal victory against the realtor on grounds of illegality and the demolition of the Twin Towers, the resident said, “Absolutely, we have planned it this evening. We’re together for a while. are living.. The battle is definitely won. This is an example for the entire country.”

  6. The society’s residents had moved the court, arguing that realtor Supertech had built the twin towers in an area that was to be built in a garden in the original building plan. He argued that the realtor violated norms to sell more flats and increase profit margins.

  7. The realtor later revised the building plan to include two more towers with 24 floors each. This has been approved by the authorities. In a later plan, the number of storeys was increased to 40.

  8. The matter reached the Supreme Court, which found that the realtor had violated the building rules in connivance with the Noida authorities. The court last year ordered the demolition of the two towers at the realtor’s expense.

  9. The Uttar Pradesh government, the resident said, did not intervene in the legal battle between the society’s residents and the realtor. “I hope the government remains as it is. In fact, it should pull the authorities… The residents suffer.

  10. He said his immediate concern is the debris spread at the demolition site. She said that Edphis, the firm that did the demolition, had initially told them that they would break apart large chunks of rubble and gradually clean it up. “We don’t want that, because of pollution we have suffered a lot, we want them to pick up the debris in cranes and lorries and just carry them. They can break them anywhere, but not here.
