Agitators create VRA flutter

A group of agitating Village Revenue Assistants (VRAs) created a mild ruckus near Jangaon on Saturday as Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s convoy was going from Hyderabad to Warangal.

The aggrieved VRA, whose strike 69. entered into th On Saturday, placards were displayed along the road to highlight their demands, including the implementation of pay scales and job security, sources said.

The policemen on settlement duty prevented him from touching the highway.

However, one of the protesters claimed that he had handed over a memorandum to the employees accompanying the Chief Minister when the convoy stopped for a few seconds near Jung.

Another group of agitating VRAs allegedly tried unsuccessfully to submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister during their visit to the home of a senior TRS leader in Hanamkonda before leaving for Hyderabad at the end of their day-long visit to Warangal.

One of the aggrieved VRAs of Kamalapur mandal told media persons that they had made representations several times to the TRS leaders of the district with their demands, but to no avail.

In another incident, an aggrieved VRA made a futile attempt to end his life by slitting his throat with a blade near the Tehsildar’s office on Saturday.

Sources said that passersby admitted him to a local hospital. He reportedly suffered a minor injury to his throat and his condition was stated to be stable.
