West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on June 20 that the BJP is trying to create its own armed “cadre” base through new defense recruitment program,

“Agneepath is actually a plan to create a cadre for the BJP. He will be the one who will protect BJP’s office and help them in looting votes. BJP has given four years of lollipop to make youth goondas.

The Chief Minister said that the Center had promised two crore jobs every year. “Now before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, they are only fooling the people of the country in the name of these schemes.”

BJP MLAs led by Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari staged a walkout in protest against the Chief Minister’s remarks. Mr Adhikari said his remarks tantamount to insulting the army.

The West Bengal Assembly passed a resolution condemning the controversial remarks.
