Many trains canceled across the country

Officials said the Railways on Saturday canceled 369 trains due to agitation against the Centre’s recently announced Agneepath scheme to recruit soldiers in the armed forces. These include 210 mail/express and 159 local passenger trains.

Officials said that the railways has also partially canceled two mail/express trains, taking the total number of trains affected during the day to 371.

Protest over ‘Agneepath’ scheme

The Centre’s announcement of the Agneepath scheme – which proposes to enlist soldiers for four years and make 75 per cent of them retire after the end of their term without pension and other social security benefits – sparked violent protests by youth in various parts. got along. of the country.

They have blocked roads and railway tracks, and even set train coaches on fire.
