New Delhi: The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved a bill to repeal three controversial agricultural law,
Union Minister Anurag Thakur announced this decision after the meeting of the Union Cabinet.

The Agricultural Laws Repeal Bill, 2021 seeks to repeal the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020. farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Price Assurance Agreement, Agricultural Services Act, 2020 and Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
Prime minister Narendra Modi The government had announced the withdrawal of three agricultural laws after failing to convince a certain section of farmers.
The central government’s decision to withdraw agricultural laws came nearly a year after thousands of farmers marched in the national capital and launched a month-long agitation against the laws.
The Prime Minister had also announced that the government would constitute a committee to work out a new framework for Minimum Support Price (MSP).
Despite the government crackdown, farmers’ unions have said they will continue their agitation on the MSP law and the sacking of Union minister Ajay Mishra over the Lakhimpur Kheri violence, among others.
