AIFF elections: Kosarju withdraws his nomination for treasurer’s post

Andhra Pradesh Football Association president Gopalakrishna Kosaraju on Friday withdrew his nomination for the post of treasurer in the All India Football Federation elections.

,I would like to inform you that I am withdrawing the nomination filed for the post of TreasurerKosaraju wrote in an e-mail to AIFF Returning Officer Umesh Sinha on Friday.

Kosaraju had a two-way fight with Kippa Ajay of Arunachal Pradesh, but with his withdrawal, it is now an open ground for the latter.

Indian football legend Bhaichung Bhutia on Thursday filed his fresh nomination for the post of AIFF president after a unanimous victory on Kalyan Choubey’s pitch.
Bhaichung’s nomination was proposed by the Andhra Football Association (AFA) and approved by the Rajasthan FA. Choubey’s nomination was opposed by the Gujarat Football Association and approved by Arunachal Pradesh.
Bhutia had earlier filed his nomination for the post of President which was to be held on August 28 under the aegis of the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA).

But, in a decision on 22 August, the SC struck down the COA’s mandate, not allowing 36 former players to attend the Electoral College, and to save the Women’s U-17 World Cup after being suspended by FIFA. The elections were postponed for a week. AIFF.

The elections will be held at AIFF Headquarters, Delhi, and the result of the same will be announced on either 2-3 September 2022 as per the notice of the Returning Officer.
