AIFF Secretary General Shaji Prabhakaran was on Saturday elected as a member of the Executive Committee of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) during the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Congress in Dhaka.

Prabhakaran, who was appointed as the AIFF General Secretary last year, made it to the AFC Executive Committee as the SAFF’s representative.
AIFF President Kalyan Choubey said in a release, “On behalf of the AIFF, I congratulate Dr. Shaji Prabhakaran, General Secretary, on being elected to the AFC Executive Committee at the SAF Congress today.”
“I have no doubt that he will be an asset to the AFC Executive Committee, and the football fraternity across Asia will appreciate the decision of the SAF Congress with his election. I wish them the best of luck.” Prabhakaran said he would work for the development of football in Asia.

“It is an honor for me to represent the SAFF on the AFC Executive Committee, and I look forward to playing my part as a member, working closely with the AFC President and his team, for the continued development of football in Asia.”
