Aim to form non-BJP government at Centre: MK Stalin

Top DMK leader slams BJP-led Center for “NEET-injustice”.

Chennai:

Party president and Chief Minister MK Stalin said in Chennai on Sunday that the DMK’s first target is to win all 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu and the lone Puducherry region as well as in the 2024 parliamentary elections.

He said the next goal is to facilitate the formation of a new government at the Center which is committed to the principles of social justice and federalism.

“During the (Lok Sabha) elections (in 2024), we will take political steps aimed at this,” he said in a video-message. This is the first edition of the DMK’s public outreach initiative through a video-message series titled, “Answers from One of You.” (Ungalil Oruvanin Pathilgal in Tamil).

DMK has come up with a Tamil political slogan, “Narapathum Namathe, Naduum Namathe.” It can be roughly translated as, “All 40 parliamentary constituencies are ours, the country is also ours.”

DMK said the outreach program is aimed at answering questions raised by people on social media platforms on issues like Dravidian ideology, Dravidian model of governance, administration etc. Party President and Chief Minister Stalin will answer the questions.

Responding to a question on NEET, Stalin said he is confident that Tamil Nadu can be exempted from the exam.

“Don’t jump to the conclusion that it won’t happen just because it’s delayed.”

The top DMK leader criticized the BJP-led Center for “neet-injustice” and said people would teach the saffron party a fitting lesson in the parliamentary polls.

Responding to a question regarding a remark that the BJP was trying to run a “parallel government” through its governors, he said: “We are running the government by facing this issue. Our Constitution has made a provision for a governor.” Responsibilities are clearly demarcated and for the Chief Minister elected by the people. If one follows it, there is no problem for anyone. It can avoid unnecessary issues.”

The DMK regime has fulfilled more than 70 per cent of the election promises made before the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. He said that if the state government’s financial position had been better and the Center had given due support, the DMK regime would have prepared more welfare schemes.

Soon after being elected the party chief at the recently held general council meeting, the chief minister asked office-bearers to take a pledge to work towards achieving a landslide victory for the party in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and emerging in national politics. as an invincible force.

Asked whether the DMK has tied up with the BJP, he said, “BJP itself will not accept such remarks.”
