Air India Express has unveiled a new tail art developed and installed on Boeing 737-800 aircraft at the Kochi-Muziris Biennale. Public Works Minister PA Mohd Riyas unveiled the tail art along with Alok Singh, CEO of Air India Express and Bose Krishnamachari, President of Kochi Biennale Foundation.

The 25-feet long tail art is an adaptation of an original acrylic painting by artist Smita GS. The painting depicts a parallel timeline through planes of memory, recreating a colorful landscape filled with chameleons, grasshoppers, microbes and aquatic creatures. Spiritual painting simultaneously reveals the riddle of tiny creatures and the vastness of hills and flowers.

The unveiling took place at the Air India Engineering Services Limited hangar at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rias said, “The vibrant tail art reflects the culture of India and this unique partnership between Air India Express and Kochi Biennale reflects their commitment towards art and culture. Air India Express operates international flights from all four airports in Kerala and I expect it to become a more potent force in Indian aviation.

Tata Link

Recalling that the first Tata aircraft had landed at the Thiruvananthapuram airport in 1935, Mr Singh said Kerala has seen many such milestones since then. “The Kochi-Muziriz Biennale has emerged as one of its kind art event in the country, and by placing a piece of art developed by the artists on our aircraft, we take the spirit of the Biennale to foreign destinations,” said Mr. Singh.

“Both Air India Express and Kochi Biennale Foundation believe in giving local and international artists a platform to showcase their work to the world”, said Mr. Krishnamachari. Air India and Air India Express are the official travel partners for the biennial which began in December 2022 and will run till April 2023.
