Air quality improves in Delhi-N decades, GRAP phase II restrictions lifted

In view of the significant improvement in air quality over the past few days, the restrictions have been lifted in Delhi-N sector under the second phase of the Phased Response Action Plan (GRAP). Officials gave this information on Wednesday. According to the Central Pollution Control Board’s (CPCB) air quality index (AQI) at 4 pm on Wednesday, the AQI in Delhi was recorded in the ‘moderate’ category (164), the Commission for Air Pollution Management (CAQM) said in a statement. It said that the AQI has been improving since January 30.

The Commission said that in view of the order of improvement in AQI, the impact of restrictions under the second phase of GRAP in Delhi-NCR has been removed. It said that however, all restrictions under the first phase of the GR AP would be applicable.

Keeping in view the improvement in AQI in the last few days and the observation made by the weather department, the sub-committee on restrictions under GR AP held a review meeting on the prevailing air quality on Wednesday.

After a review, it was decided to lift the restrictions from levying charges in the second phase of the GR AP.
